My Identity

I am a fictional writer and don’t believe in getting involved in politics or social issues. My duty as a writer is to entertain and move the reader.

I leave morality, spirituality, and philosophy to thinkers and theologians. No individual can tell me that I must practice DEI. Or take an interest in controversial or sensitive issues.

My Background

I come from an interracial home. My ethnic origin is primarily European. I have indigenous blood that originates from my relatives in Mexico.

Even if I am not interested in politics or social issues, the border crisis impacts me profoundly. I agree it is wrong how Americans treat or see them.

Although I left the Catholic church in 2015, my faith still influences me. I refuse to write books that support LGBT issues or reproductive rights.

The right of writers to be freely creative is crucial to me. I do not think the government or any institution should enforce rules to make people submit to ideology.

What Impacts My Writing

Watching how my parents struggled, the journey of the working class became close to me. I find it sad how some countries mistreat the lower classes.

Mercy and compassion are necessary to write good characters or stories. It’s a fundamental flaw to believe ideology equals kindness.

I write to entertain the reader. However, the story needs to have an emotional impact on the audience. Again ideology does not equate mercy or compassion.

There is much ideology in today’s books but little emotional impact. We do not need politics or social issues in writing.

We need more compassion toward the characters even if they may have flaws we disagree with. I also believe there should be raw emotion in the book’s thrills.

I am a horror writer. If I wish to put politics or social issues in the story, they need to be relevant to the context.
